I guess my parents did have a point when they forbade us to eat junkfood. They would scare us off by telling us the amount of colouring or chemicals or salt or the “hidden ingredients” that has been put into those snacks to make them “yummy”. But being kids then, what did we know the long-term effects of those chemicals to our bodies? So we curi-curi makan those things every now and then. Luckily, there were a few snacks that passed our parents approval, so we weren't exactly deprieved from eating junkfood. *grins*
One of them “forbidden” snacks was the “White Rabbit Creamy Candy” sweets.
I remember when I first tried that sweet. Boy, did I get a good shelling for eating that sweet back then. My dad would say “Don’t you think something is really wrong if you have to eat the inner wrapping of the sweet???”. But being young then, what would I know? What I did after that was to try my utmost best to peel off the “inner wrapping” of the sweet (which is almost impossible to do!!) since the “inner wrapping” was bad. But since it was such a hassle to try to peel of the “inner wrapping” of the sweet, I just never touched those sweets again.
But now, am I glad that my dad was very strict with me and my sisters when it came to junkfood. I mean, there were times I did curi-curi makan but at least it wouldn’t have been as bad had they let us eaten them whenever we craved for it. And now, they say that the “White Rabbit Creamy Candy” has traces of melamine!!! Phew…and yes, I am aware that it is the sweet that has traces melamine and not the "inner wrapping" but still, it was because of that that I chose to not eat it anymore =p
